ORINís chemical remediation approaches apply in situ and ex situ processes that cost-effectively reduce contaminants to site or regulatory levels or nonhazardous to meet the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) requirements and Universal Treatment Standards (UTS). These chemical processes include chemical oxidation, bioremediation, metal stabilization, and reductive dechlorination. ORIN staff has successfully treated several sites in or near industrial facilities, manufactured gas plants, residential sites and roads.
ORIN has successfully treated sites contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, coal tars, pesticides, explosives, heavy metals and fuel oil. ORINís approach to remedial services is based on four chemical approaches.

ORIN can apply these chemical approaches in a variety of different methods that best meet the site and regulatory requirements. To determine the most effective chemistry and dosage to treat the site contaminants, ORIN performs a bench level
treatability study on representative samples from the site. During the study, varying chemistries and dosages are applied to the sample to measure the treatment effectiveness.
In Situ Injection Application
ORINís offers in situ remediation services by injecting treatment chemistries directly into the zone where the contaminant exists. In situ applications are performed through either a direct push injection or permanent point injection.
ORIN uses state of the art injection equipment that permits the injection of various chemical solutions that best treat the contaminant. The injection equipment is housed in a trailer that contains all of the necessary pumps, tanks, and valves to conduct the injection. ORIN mobilizes the trailer containing the injection equipment and the chemical required to treat the site. On-site, the treatment chemistry is mixed to the proper treatment blend and concentration. After mixing, the treatment chemistry is injected into the zone of contamination by either direct push or permanent point injection.
Ex Situ Application
ORIN uses a variety of mixing techniques to apply treatment chemistries in an ex situ Application. As with in situ applications, ORIN determines the most effective treatment chemistry based on the results of the bench level testing and applies that knowledge to the site. Application of the treatment chemistry can be as a solid or liquid and can be incorporated directly into soil or can be mixed after excavation with a backhoe or pugmill. ORIN has a variety of different means to apply treatment chemistries and can customize the application to meet project needs.
Compared to traditional remediation methods ORINís approaches can be significantly more cost-effective and can reduce site restoration time. The long term operation and maintenance costs of remediation methods such as pump-and treat and air sparging can take years or decades. ORINís remediation services can be quickly mobilized to remediate a site within a few weeks or months. These expedited treatment processes mean your site is restored and ready for redevelopment in a fraction of the time.
Materials that are TCLP hazardous not only pose a long term liability, the costs associated with their disposal can be significant. ORINís approach to treating these materials can render them non-hazardous. This translates into less liability and significant cost savings associated with hazardous waste treatment and disposal costs.
